Surprisingly, nearly all the roads I encountered in Ireland were paved. However, as can be seen in this shot of a road on the Dingle Peninsula, almost all Irish roads are extremely narrow and have nearly non-existent shoulders. It is not uncommon on some of the back country roads to have to pull to the side or back up to let an oncoming car pass.

The Wicklow Mountains are a beautiful area just south of Dublin in Ireland. Ruins such as these are a common site all throughout the country. These places always raise so many questions. Located south of Monument valley in Arizona, Agathala Peak is an impressive formation that rises over 1,500 ft from the surrounding desert. Agathala Peak is a volcanic diatreme, the remnants from the throat of an ancient volcano.

Dead Horse Point State Park offers a spectacular overlook of a gooseneck in the Colorado River. Although commonly mistaken for the Grand Canyon this park is actually in Utah near the north entrance to Canyonlands National Park. This area was used for the end scene to the movie “Thelma and Louise”.

Dingle is a quaint and picturesque town on the Dingle peninsula in southern Ireland. The economy here for the near 2,000 residents relies heavily on tourism, fishing, and agriculture. Dingle resides in one of the Gaeltacht, predominately Irish speaking, regions that are scattered throughout Ireland.
